E KOMO MAI - Come to this shoreline to fish, throw net, surf, swim, camp, collect medicinal herbs and gather from the brackish water ponds.

Kohanaiki Ohana

We are proud to report that after almost ten years of effort, the Kohanaiki 'Ohana has nearly attained it's goals, set out in our first Vision Statement of 1994.

We are the advocates for the survival of the Hawaiian value of aloha and traditional 'ahupua'a' concepts in land use planning.

We are committed to networking in political, economic and social arenas to perpetuate Hawaiian values: stewardship of natural resources, human rights and environmental justice.

We are joined together to achieve a victory at Kohanaiki.

We are of mixed ethnic and cultural backgrounds - youth, adults and elders, sharing a collective vision.

Guided by our 'Kupuna' (elders)
Inspired by our 'Keiki' (children)
and with responsibility to all future generations,
the Kohanaiki 'Ohana, a not-for-profit organization, is committed
to building strong bonds within our Kona community.

We are part of a global movement to recognize and respect indigenous knowledge, culture and traditional practices combined with modern technologies for sustainable management of our environment.
